Any suggestions on what to do with an old 333Mhz laptop laying around collecting dust?
 
Can anyone say Personal Web/FTP server? I sure can! assuming the specs are decent (as far as processor goes, its fine).

Or you can just ship it to me... ill even pay for shipping ^_^.

What would you want for it? I'm sure I could find something to do with it.
 
I use a 233 laptop for flashing copiers, but very few people flash copiers. Maybe it could be used as a portable mp3 player on a home network, like out on the patio or something. Just a thought.

I use one to connect to speakers on the back porch. There is a CAT5 line out there that I use. I play files that are on another machine inside. I unplug the line from the switch inside the house when the laptop isn't in use.

I would be interested in buying yours. A friend wants to set his network up like mine. LMK
 
I still use my old 266mhz Dell Inspiron laptop. It can word process and the 6GB hdd is great for MP3s. With 144MB of RAM (I don't know how or why 144), it's good for old 2D games like the Infinity engine Bioware games and Star/War Craft.

If I ever buy another laptop I'll be sure to get the most ram and hard drive space I can afford because that's what'll keep it useful.

I also put a wireless network card in it and use it to troubleshoot other computers around the house so that I can keep the info up throught successive and excessive reboots and all the rest troubleshooting entails. In that way it's like an immense, portable reference tool.

Anway, I'm sure you can come up with something to use it for.
 
hook it up to a router, load it with fire walls virus softwear etc, use it as your own security center and make all connections run past it before it hits your internal network.... hardcore security FBI ish almost :D :( :D :D
