I have an Adaptec 2940AU scsi controller card and a Fujitsu 4.3 gig drive. Anyone have any idea what this combo might be usefull for? I was thinking of maybe using it as my swap drive for my XP install.

Does this stuff have some use left in it or should I just junk it? Any other suggestions will be more than appreciated.

The controller might be useful, depending on what the sync rate is (40 MB/s? 160 MB/s?), but the disk is pretty much junk.

EDIT: Actually I just looked on the Adaptec site, and the transfer rate is 20mb/sec. So I'm guessing the card is also useless?
 
I'd say so. New IDE disks will do way better than that, so unless you're looking for a new experience, skip it.

 
yeah, thats about the size/speed of the drives I picked up for an extra box which was basically built to play with toys I'd never played with(like SCSI, RAID, a dozen other things).

I later sold the drives/card off to someone wanting to do the exact same thing. I'd say check on the prices on EBay if you already own the drives, or if you looking to buy them, understand that their not really useful as 'real' drives, but are very useful for learning.
 
Thanks a lot guys. The only reason I have this stuff is because it came in a p3 1000 box i got for $20, for my gf. So I guess I'll just skip the learning experience and donate one of my WD drives to her computer.
