What to do with all this junk?

Whenever I've built a PC for a friend, they've given me their old system. Beyond that, there's one or two old computers that are no longer being used in my house anymore. Here's a rough estimate of what I have:

1x Micron Desktop Case
1x Dell Tower Case
1x Misc Crappy ATX Case complete w/ Bent HD Cage
2x PIII mobo
2x PIII (one is 550MHz, the other 500)
1x Socket A Mobo (takes up to 2100+, SiS chipset I believe)
1x Crappy Power Supply (but it worked in the socket A system for years, so I guess it's ok)
1x Dell PSU
1x Micron PSU
1x Sound Blaster Live Value PCI
1x Diamond Viper V550 AGP card
2x ISA modem (one is 56k, the other 28.8 I believe)
3x PCI Ethernet NIC
1x ATi DVD decoder card (PCI, with ribbon cable to the Diamond card)
1x Creative Sound Blaster w/ SCSI (unsure ATM whether it's a 16 or a pro or what)
1x IBM P/S1 w/ Pentium Overdrive, ca. 80 Mhz?
3x 56K PCI modem
1x Iomega Jaz Drive w/ 2x 1GB disks
512 MB of SDR SDRAM, in 6x 64 MB DIMMs and 1x128MB DIMM
1x 2 Port USB 1.1 PCI card
1x Psion Revo Plus/Diamond Mako w/o battery pack (but the thermistor is included, so a skilled solderer could make their own.....)
1x Dell Axim X5 300Mhz w/ 128 MB and 256 MB CF cards, foldable keyboard, assorted software, 3 styluses, and Sena leather case w/belt clip (MAYBE - depends on how I like the Nokia Communicator 9290 I have on the way).

That's just what I can think of off the top of my head....

So, before the Mods start circling, I'd like to point out that this is NOT a for sale/trade thread. There is a question behind all of this. If I were to sell all this crap, would it be more logical for me to assemble it into viable systems rather than parting it out? I can see how this would work for or against me - if building, I'd alienate people looking for spare parts. If parting it out, I'd probably end up with a bit less $$$, or more, who knows? If I sell every stick of RAM for $10 rather than stuffing them into 3 $100 systems....

I've thought about building them into file servers or something, but I can't justify it. I need more space I'll stick another drive in my rig (or better yet my mom's).

And if anyone is interested in this stuff, and I do put it up on EBay, I'll be sure to put up the links here.

You could make a PIII server with the 550mhz, there were enough threads on that around before the forum was upgraded, many people chose that as the best way. File sharing, printer sharing and net sharing. Or you could build a server and sell it on eBay, make a bit of money. That's my two cents worth.

But as for selling servers - first off, for them to be configured as servers, wouldn't they need an OS? That would cost me. Second, do you think I'd get more for building a rig or three or selling every part individually?

Well, if they don't have an OS, you could use Linux (its free and used in lots of servers), but that does require effort too.
As for selling them, they might get bought as a system (and you could put a higher price on it because of labour), but then the systems generally aren't used by most as PC's... that's why i suggested making them as servers. Just ideas...

You could always have a melting party, considering the temperatures needed to burn that stuff might be extreme. MAKE a video though :D

You could build a machine or two and Fold for the [H]orde! :D

Nothing seems to sell on Ebay except RAM and Processors....ironically, those are just the things I need if I want to build, and the stuff left behind is the stuff that takes up the most room....

id take some of those parts off ya :) use them to build cheap linux machines to fold, or stream, or whatever
