So I've been out of the overclocking world for a while (last was an athy 1300 I think, and a p3 450 before that) and I finally got a chance to build a computer. E6600, scythe infinity, P5B vanilla, 2gb corsair dominator 6400 4-4-4-12, evga 8800gtx, 320gb seagate perp, e207wfp, enermax whisper II 535w, and an Enermax Chakra case. It's great. I love it. E6600 is at 3.4 w/o any troubles and I haven't had the time to fiddle with getting it stable @ 3.6+ nor time to fiddle with the ram timings. Possibly more on that later if I can't get it stable.

My problem is the size of the scythe and the 25cm fan on the Chakra (pic). As you know, the scythe is huge and it prevents the side of the case being put on by hitting the fan. It's between 1/2 and 3/4's of an inch that I need.

What do you think I should do? I've thought about trying to attach the fan to the ouside of the side, but that would end up looking rather odd. I think I could screw in the bottom of the case and leave a weird gap at the top of the side where I can't screw the side of the case in. I could take the fan out and use the hole as a vent. I could sell the scythe and get something a little smaller. Or I could do something else. That's where you could come in. Anybody have any ideas?
 
Sell the scythe... or remove some of the fins off it.

Just unbolt it, pull them off, and (CAREFULLY) bend the heapipes out of the way... re-criming as necessary.
 
Well, you've got a killer hardware setup, why not delve into some killer, more compact water cooling?
 
all custom, i cant say any specifics because i personally odnt have a water coolign set up, but we do have a forum where you can be hooked up.
