So i got a 160GB SATA and was wondering on what people think i should do with it. better to partition it out, say, 20GB for OS, 60GB for games, and 80GB for apps/files?

Then, what about making extended partition/logical drives as opposed to primary partition? Should I make all Primary partitions, or all logical drives? mix anf match?

Primarys i know you can boot from, but i am only goin to have 1 os, i think, well, for now.

Thoughts?

Ive used 15 gig for XP heres the rest of my config:

Programs: 15g
"MY HDD": (misc stuff) 25gig
Photos: 15gig
Music etc 15 gig:
Games 30 gig

Just another idea or two.

I have 120GB with 10GB set aside for XP Pro. I usually have around 5GB free. I'm not sure about this, but I think having a partition too big for XP makes my hard drive work more to find stuff when it's fragmented. I fragment like twice a week 'cause my drive gets really loud for petty tasks.

^^^ Pretty much the same but I have an 80GB. 10GB for OS (XP) and ~70 for the rest.

I always say put the OS on a separate partition. That way, barring disk failure, if the OS is hosed, all the info is still intact on another partition. Makes reinstallion of Windows much nicer.

Cheers.
