Been screwing around w/ my cpu, and found out the following things:
system specs:
Athlon 3000+ newcastle
MSI K8N neo platinum
Corsair XL
a bunch of things that don't really matter at this point
1. at 2-2-2 1t, my ram maxes out somewhere around 212-215
2. at 2.5-3-3 2t (not the 2t), my ram runs stable at 247 (see below)
3. My cpu runs stock voltage 247 x 10 (a 470 mhz overclock), stable
4. At 1t, my memory won't boot at 233 NO MATTER WHAT
5. at 231-232, it's very unstable at 1t, but still boots.
So here are my options:
2-2-2 212fsb 1:1 divider, 1t command rate
2.5-3-3 247fsb 1:1 divider, 2t command rate
2-2-2 247fsb 166divider, 1t command rate (ram at 205mhz)
Or I can try to push the fsb and turn down the cpu multiplier to 8 or 9, but let's worry about that after. Am I going to have to benchmark the above 3 results or is there an easy one to elimiate from the three? It seems like option 1 would be moot because it's giving up so much in terms of HT and cpu mhz.
also, in regards to pushing the fsb higher.. if I can turn the fsb up to say 274 (the "even step" up so my cpu stays the same at 9x), and I have to turn the HT multiplier to 3 to make it work, then it's basically not accomplishing anything right?
What would you do from this point? (i'm currently running 247 2.5-3-3-10 2t, 1:1)
