what to do after a failed OC?

My board fails to post whenever i have a failed OC. And then of course i have to use the battery out and jumper cmos clear trick, but this gets a little tedious to say the least. my mobo is an asus a8n sli deluxe. Is there a button i can hit at start up that's just for the specific task of getting back into the bios after a failed OC, i had a mobo that had this feature once. Or do i really have to clear the cmos every single time?
 
I always used this:
hold "insert" and power up.

Always worked for me, but I never had anything else than Award BIOS.
 
Forgot to say this, I'm using this trick since my old 486 SX25 back in 1992.
 
I believe all Asus motherboards have the feature where if your motherboard fails to post. Just hold the power button until the system shuts off, then reboot. It should then POST, and lead you back to the BIOS with default settings (usually 100mhz FSB at the lowest multiplier).

I know I had it ton my Asus P3B-F, and now my Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe :)
 
I have the same motherboard, and whenever I went too high I'd just restart and go into the BIOS right away.

I've actually OC'd with this board with great great ease.
 
For some odd reason, I've had to unplug it to cut off the standby voltage for a moment. Then it would boot fine for me, may have to try that. (Asus P4P800 Dlx)
 
well.........i usually start by pouring myself a stiff shot of vodka, when my machine fails to post..........

however, i have the dubious pleasure of owning a board that corrupts it's bios at the drop of a hat so when she doesn't post, if can often result in several hours of trouleshooting, even with my bios saviour.

that worked for me when I went a little too far with my 3800+ (the sig) and didn't do it right. I tried that and it simply took me to BIOS. just press the F2 key and it should take you there.
