What to do about my overheating?

I currently have an A7N8X nf2u board, with a mobile 2600+ running at 210x11.5 1.625v core 2.7v DDR... It's starting to run very hot around 58c with prime95 maxheat torture test. I've got an alpha pal8045 with a 80mm tornado going at full speed all the time. At 1.625 it still isn't as stable as I'd like (prime only can go for 3 hours), if I push it any more then this vcore the temp gets to 55c idle, I didn't even want to try doing load tests. My chipset/case shows 30-39c.

Right now in my lian li PC60 1st gen case I have 2 80mm intakes in the front pushing about 38cfm, rear 80mm exhaust fan pushing about 23-30cfm, a top 92mm exhaust fan pushing about 100cfm. my truepower antec psu 80mm exhaust fan going about 5cfm (no joke, it's one of those "quiet" PSUs).

I was thinking about getting an thermalright SP-97, but since it's out of stock EVERYWHERE, and I'm kinda in a rush to get my problem fixed here. I was wondering if any of you have any ideas? If I take off the case door it seems to help some what with my temps, so I was thinking about adding more case fans. Maybe one above the GPU and CPU(probably a 92mm, 120 is just too big would take up my whole window). I would replace my top 92mm fan with a 120mm, but there are too many cables up there to do that, they'd have no place to go (damn rheobus)... I do have a pretty good budget(rather not spend over $200 tho) for this so I could even go as far as getting a new case(any recommendations over my lian li?)...

sp 97 is a good choice i know your arent a noob cuz you sound like you know what you're talking about but make sure your invest in some good thermal paste and a good variable speed fan. that might lower your temps. good luck...
 
try buying a little bit larger case too maybe it might be more bulky but you can out more fans in it and if you get a decent case you can get a window and like 2 or 3 fans in the side or top and sometimes 2 exhaustfans in the back and maybe even 2 intake in the front. like i said good luck and i dont know if this place has them in stock but try frozen cpu. they are a little cheaper than some places too.
 
I've had excellent luck with my Swiftech MCX6400-V for my A64. I sit usually between 32-34C idle and around 38-42C load... somtimes up to 46C load

They make a MCX462-V that is similar to mine, and you can mount a nice high CFM 92MM fan on the top of it.

Also... like said earlier, invest in some good thermal paste. I use Arctic Silver 5.
 
I've you've got a budget of $200.... I'd start looking into some water-cooling solutions as well. May offer that nice extra bit of cooling to feed the need of your overclocking.

I don't use water-cooling myself, but I'm pretty sure there's some decent systems out there for a little less than $200. (Pretty sure that doesn't include the HS though) I've heard DangerDen WC systems are nice, but they are spendy. Koolance's EXOS supposedly is pretty nice, and is an external model.

If you decide to look up water-cooling, I'd get some opinions from some people that currently run the setups to get the best bang for the buck on your hard-earned cash.
 
I've thought about water cooling, but it would be a big investment... I don't have room in my case for it, I would need a full tower for sure. That would put me over my budget, I'm guessing at least 100 bucks for a case, another 250 for water block, radiator, hoses, pump, power, reservoir etc... for now I'm just going to stick with air cooling...

I'm thinking of getting the coolmaster stacker, it's going to max my budget, but it's a sweet case and has 120mm fans so I could get some great airflow.. and in the future I'd have more then enough room to get some peltier+water cooling action going...
 
My brother has the SP-97 on his XP-M 2600 and his temps are about 47°C load at 2.03V ..... so it's an excellent choice if you want aircooling for your mobile.

Have you considered the SLK-900a? It gets the same temps as the SP-97 in the overclockers HS chart and it's definitely a lot cheaper. Here's a link to a store I buy from all the time SidewinderComputers, and here's the performance ranking chart SocketA

slk900 does look nice, about 20 bucks less and in stock some places... Hard to choose... I'd like a new case so I'd have room for other things (I want to add an 5.7" LCD some day)...

I'd dig around for a good deal on a case.... my brother got his Chieftec Matrix w/ USB and fans for 20 bucks with a mail in rebate from tigerdirect. I got mine for 80 bucks from directron so do your research :D

I'm a big fan of the Matrix... it's a blank canvas for modding and it has lots of room if you get the full tower or even the mid tower version. Here's a pic of mine .. LINKage
 
now that the forum is finally working I can post a update... seesh...

I decided to go with the cmstacker, as I was toying with my case and I noticed when I left the cover off, my temps dropped 10-15c... so I can tell I'm not getting any airflow with this sucker...
