ok see this pic of my screen,you see all them dots? what could this be and what made it happen?
could this be my video card or monitor?

winxp pro
30gig hd
512 ddr 333

my system is a little above 1 year old and nothing has been overclocked or mess withclicky

that looks like:

1.) bad video card overclock

2.) bad video card over heating.

Has the fan stopped working on your 9800 Pro? That would cause it to over heat.

1.) Not overclocked
2.) Not sure, I opened my cases and the fan is spinning. And this was right from startup so i dont think it could overheat that quick.

Im gonna try reinstalling the drivers to see how it goes.

Don't assume it couldn't overheat right away. I had this same problem in a computer I was fixing here at work. The fan had stopped working on the card, causing it to immediately start to overheat. Prolonged use made it damage the card. So when the fan was replaced, the damage was already done. Computer parts heat up like that *snaps fingers*.

Might be time for a RMA

Ok, I thought that the issue was the drivers (DNA's latest drivers) so I installed omegas drivers, same thing happens. So im guessing the card is defected. Ive started using this card from the 5th or so of January. BTW i bought this card from allstarshop.com and what in the heck is RMA?

RMA = Return Merchandise Authorization

It means you call up All-Star and tell them your card is broke and ask for a RMA. However, I hope you got a backup card. AllStarShop even has a RMA Return button.

my friend had the same problem when he threw in a 9700pro into his celery 800mhz rig. it was the underpowered PSU that caused the video glitch....the prob disappeared after he upgraded his puny 250w PSU to a better one. hope this helps.

I dont think its the power supply, since its been running fine for a month until now. I will just RMA it.

ok, well i got my RMA number and it says "Do not return the outer box, diskettes, or manual" do i just send the card its self or do i need to send the card and cables and the dvi to monitor connector?

probably wouldnt be a bad idea because they'll probably check to see if the cables are the culprit of the bad vid card...thats what I would think anyways...

bad card maybe.. did you check the back of the card + memory chips to see how much heat it is generating?

Im running a 300w PSU with no problems. 250 is about the recomended

250W is not puny. but its not enough. the reccomended is 300W

if u have a space heater i mean a prescott u'll need 800W+

radeon cards suck alot more power than the geforce's.

Excuse you, with a Radeon 9800 you'd better be running at least a 300W.

And from the pic, it looks like a bad memory chip. RMA time.

Sometimes it's necessary. Like when you're trying to catch a BSOD or some other problem when Windows isn't up and running or isn't working right.
I saw one a while ago of screen corruption in text mode while booting up. Naturally he used a digicam.
My problem is I can never remember the key I need to hold down to get a capture of just the current window. When you've got 3 screens a lot of times you really don't want the whole desktop...

well, ok i have sent my card to ati via usps priority, now gotta wait atleast 2 days for them to receive it and another 10 days for them to actually work on it, then another week or so till ups brings it back and then few minutes for me to install it again.

man this sucks, this is gonna be a while till i see it again.
Poor peformance gaming on my onboard video for 2 weeks.
