Just went on today and see we have a quick reply box on the bottom and next to our titles it says how long we've been on [H].

i hope we don't see any avatars though,
i don't like avatars

Interesting. I thought that it had been back the whole time and I had disabled it but I recently reset cookies so I thought that's why I saw it again. Guess I was wrong.

I'll have to give it a shot again. I like the title/length, though.

Wow some people who have been here for > 1 year are already Gawd and 2[H]4U.

.....You people talk to much.

I like it.

I have noticed a bug. It says 38.2 years for everyone in PM's.

It is going to take some time for me to actually use quick reply, I keep just hitting "post reply." Though it is nice to have it, thank you [H].

I noticed that too today. I must say I'm happier with the search feature being back ;)

i guess it makes things easier to know how long you been here and what kind of rep you build. interesting and now 50 posts to even post in the for sale/trade section. 0_0

time we have been here is awesome for the main reason of buying and selling. I hope this stays.

50 posts are required to post in FSFT, Hot Deals, and Free Stuff forums.

The quick reply is AWESOME when I'm on my laptop. I have an older iBook G4 so its moderately slow when on battery power and on a wireless network, so quick reply makes it fantastically easy to post.

Thats a bonus, however im still uneasy about buying off someone who has just joined the forum, doesn't take too long to rack up 50 posts. Member length makes it a lot easier to find out how long they've been here.

Thanks

Well you know some people are going to get ripped off...because they are idiots, and there is not much more we can do to help that. :D If you see someone is regged for 2 days and you still buy from them, well, that is their decision. So, member length does matter.

While I do like the member length feature, I have issues with the minimum 50 post rule. How about considering member length as a factor for posting as well?

How bout I just set your post count to 51 and we move on and worry about it on a case by case basis? Oh, already done!

I dont like the 50 count, been here over the 2 yrs, lost my last email so had to start over, now i cant post in certain areas.. BOOO!!!! Now im just posting random crap to up my post count...

Fixed.

Agreed. Although I cannot speak for policy making on this forum, whenever the topic of avatars arose in GenMay years ago, it was always replied to with a strong negative by moderators, and I totally understand. The kind of traffic this site receives and the amount of bandwidth required would just get compounded with unnecessary embellishments like avatars. Avatars, animated smilies, pictorial sigs, etc., are horrendous eye-sores, and only serve to slow things down considerably for both the user and forum servers. Thank the gods [H] maintained a spartan visual layout over the years for everyone concerned.

You can just thank me on that one. I hate all that other shit. There are a lot of forums I refuse to read with any regularity because of that stuff going on...

Thank you so much Kyle, I come here every day to read the articles and read the responses, I'm just not much for posting.. Thanks again...

Not a problem bro, we knew that we would need to 'grandfather' some folks in under the radar. Not your fault you are not a post whore like the rest of us!

What I appreciate the most is that this is a widescreen-friendly non-fixed-width site. So many forums and wikis these days have (or worse, have gone to) a fixed-width layout just as widescreens are catching on bigtime. Especially for computer and gaming sites, that merits big WTF. The [H] would never do anything so lame though, for which I am very glad. :)
