What the hell is going on?!

okay, with my shitty card in my sig seems like every other time I reboot it f's up. I used to have it OCed thinking that that was the problem, so I took that off but not I'm getting even more shit from it. Here's what happens:

-on reboot, RIGHT when it gets to the desktop my display would go black, and soon after the monitor will automatically shut off (after 5 seconds because thats just what it does. The only time I've actually been here to see what happens the screen flickers a couple times before going black. Others I just come back and it almostlike my computer is in standby w/ a black screen, just sitting there.

- Now after I took off the OC what happened was I lost all of the display accept like 3mm on the left side, and when I put the mouse all the way left it would have this big yelow streak arcoss the screen. The computer was fully functional at this point (besides the display obviously)

- At one point it must have automatically rebooted because I got an error that said something to the note of hardware error nvidia geforce FX5200 bla bla bla was the culprit bla.

What I might be thinking is using rivatuner to disable AGP fastwrites (more or less forcing it) is causing something, because I can see any other screen clear as day before the desktop comes on.

Either that or I'm just going to RMA the sucker, its a piece anyway.

i think we found your problem- toss it out like it were manufactured in Chernobyl.

I'd recommend trying another card in the slot, just to make sure that it's the card.

It could be the AGP slot.

Yea, thats what I was afraid of. I'm experimenting with the rivatuner thing by enabling AGP fastwrites and uninstalling it. It's working so far but that means nothing. So I'll pobably be back here with an update in a few days or so.

Had same kind of prob with a GF 2 TI found out in the end it was my monitor going

well, I uninstalled rivatuner... also I installed the newest nvidia drivers (the 56.72) seemed to help all of my problems. We'll just have to see over an extended period of time though.

Even tho it's working, it's still a POS....j/k.

The little tweaker utilities can sure get a guy into trouble. Been there myself once or twice....nothing a fresh reformat/install of Windows wont cure. :D

I had that same problem with a friends 5200, re-installing the drivers fixed it, as you also found out.
