Tau is 2 x Pi. There's a whole "movement" behind replacing Pi with Tau in mathematical equations.

He doesn't explain it well, but for a quick bit of dumbed-down theory, the 9th note is the same as the second note, it's just an octave up. So,

2 = 9
4 = 11
6 = 13

When you see something like Cadd9, it's C(1) E(3) G(5) D(9).
