What system would you build?

For gaming-
No accessories nor monitor included just the computer!, $1600 USD approx. limit

Go for it, name the best specs for a computer that you would get for at or around that price. Oh btw, say, if you were online buying, i.e. newegg.com/zipzoomfly.com.

3500 939, whatever mobo, 1 gig of Corsair XLL 3200, 6800GT, antec true power PSU, and whatever the hell else you want :)

Socket 939 for sure. Newegg.com all the way

fans: get some neons in w.e color u want :p
heatsink:

total so far is 1300 w/ out shipping. (only 1 hdd) Just pick out some quality neon fans (cooler master, thermaltake etc.... and neons and ur set.

if you get that case, make sure you get a new PSU for it, as the one in there is a POS for sure. i think that case looks like ass anyway...

i also dont know about that HSF... i've never seen any reveiws of it yet...
raptor for sure... check out one of the 300gb 16mb cache maxtors also. although i find the nice round 250 to be nice. i can see 3 more in my future

hmm about the case.. not that color for sure id get a blue one with green and blue neons inside... As for heatsink, i just picked it cus i kno the fan is silent, and it has heatpipe technology

it still has a fan though...the only fanless CPU cooling is water cooling... and even that has a fan

i also have one question, what is better, the pro series or the xtra low latency XMS ram?

The pro has the lights and the different heatspreader, thats the only difference, I think

I think I should wait for the PCIX form of the 6800GT and the x800 pro and pcix compatiable amd moboards before i purchase my stuff.

ok we need to kno... do u have a hdd, floppy and cd drives already? and do u have a case? do u have a sound card? what is ur current system so it can be a partial upgrade (all new parts... but keep the cd drives and erased hdd etc...

that means u dont have any cd drives or floppy drives? cus if i were u id use those and paint em black or blue or somethin..

If you go for a new LGA p4, thats the only time you are goin to be able to get ddr2.

The recomendations are good so far, but I would recommend some OCZ 3700 EB instead of the corsair, if you get an athlon64 system. Or you could try some Crucial Ballistix 3200 if your feeling a little lucky (the results on those seem to vary a little...but they're a lot cheaper than the OCZ and seem to be able to run tighter timings).

Also, with the corsair, the XLPRO has identical performance to the reg XL...just it has flashy lights and the reg doesn't.
