What Speed Pentium M?

I'm looking for advice on what speed pentium M to buy. I'm particularly torn between the 1.86 and the 2.0 ghz models. I was wondering how much of a real world difference there is between these two. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob
 
I would say if the price difference is less than 150 I would get the 2ghz if not just get the 1.8

I would say don't buy the 533Mhz FSB ones because it is so easy to convert a 400 to 533 giving you an instant no fuse %33 overclock saving you quite a bit of money.
 
what laptpo is this for?

i'd recommend getting a laptop that has the new 915 chipset and then getting either a 1.5ghz 400fsb or a 1.6ghz 400fsb

and then do a pin mod to trick it to running at 533fsb netting an effective 2.0ghz or 2.13ghz

hell, a lot of people are doing the 1.7->2.26 mod too

save yourself a good good amount of moeny better spent elsewhere

i say get the 533fsb ones since they o/c better than the 400fsb ones. the 400fsb ones hit a o/c ceiling of about 160, the 533's ive seen as high as 280
 
I have laptop with Dothan core which has 400MHz FSB right? so how to overclock this one as u mentioned above saying it can reach 160
 
No, it has a 100 MHz FSB (400 MHz system bus frequency). An overclock to 160 MHz would be huge. You can overclock using the guides posted in this thread, or you can use software programs for additional adjustment. I use ClockGen for my Commell LV-671NSMA motherboard:
