I'm building a SFF pc for a customer and I don't know what Slim optical drive to get. I'm looking at using the SilverStone Sugo Series SG05BB-450-USB3.0 case. The only slim drives they have on Newegg are 100 bucks. Never bought a slim optical drive. So any help on what one to get and where to get it would very helpful. Only has to be a dvd/cd burner. Thanks

They can be had for under $20 new on ebay, just make sure you get one with a front face!

Newegg has had slim DVD writers for really cheap. They're just out of stock. Expert tip: Newegg isn't the only place in the world that sells computer parts. Even if you shy away from eBay, there are plenty of other quite legit sources for computer hardware.

For instance, SuperBiiz has slim DVD writers for $22+shipping, and they're quite legit. I see a $20 unit on Amazon with free shipping if you have Prime.

Note that you will need an adapter. Slim optical drives can use normal SATA data cables, but cannot use normal SATA power cables. Silverstone steadfastly refuses to include one, unlike Antec and In Win who has them built into their PSUs.

Looks like you got one, but Frys has a external bluray writer slim external for only $40. These are pretty easy to get out of the enclosures.
