Anybody know what size the psu pictured here is? It's an Aspire, so I would definatly want to replace it, but whether it is mATX or a normal ATX psu makes all the difference in what I get. Item here
 
That psu looks rather small in the picture but it says under the description that its a 420w ATX.
 
That is a micro ATX power supply. How it can do 420W... I have no idea.
 
Now HERE is a killer MicroATX power supply. 20A on the 12V!!!! :eek: :eek: :eek:
 
I'm still not totally sure, as that fan next to it is a 120mm, which makes it seem more like a normal ATX. Looks like I'm going to have to email Aspire.
 
True. So it's not a micro ATX. But if that's an ATX power supply, it seems shorter from front to back. Look at the fan on top. It's only an 80MM and not a 92MM like most. And if it was a standard ATX PSU, why isn't it sold seperately anywhere on Aspire's website?

If that's a short-stack version of an ATX, then replacing would be a pain as they would have made the PSU like that just to accomodate the smallness of that case. :
 
Hate to bring the one up from 3 pages back, but I went on Aspire's site and found the dimensions for the psu - 116 x 149 x 87 mm. Anybody know what size this is? If it is normal ATX, then I could buy the case and a mATX motherboard within 3 weeks; if not, then I'll need to save up some more. If it's not standard ATX or mATX, I won't buy the case period. I'm not risking my stuff to an Aspire.
 
when outside the normal PS\2-ATX or EPS1U or 2U form factors....yes
there are some really weird "slimcase" supplies as well
SFF stuff can get pretty specialized

you might want to nead over to the HTPC & casemod forums for members that actually have and use those ;)

there are several varients, which include typical microATX PSUs like the Enermax linked
(micoATX is a mobo formfactor BTW)

I don't think so. Again; look at the bolt pattern for mounting the PSU to the case. The SFX uses three screws like a uATX. The Aspire in the Newegg photo shows four mounting screws like a standard ATX. :(
 
Thanks. You have to admit, in those pictures it doesn't look standard size. I'll be getting it around my birthday (May 13). I'll post a review on it here, and I'll be sure to pick up a Mystic (that chameleon color change paint) spray paint kit, and go wild on the inside and out.

You know what I'm thinking... If CyberPower can sell it with a different PSU, why can't you buy the case WITHOUT the PSU? :confused:
 
Because what they do is take the existing psu out put the new one in. Besides, it's only $90 for case + psu. Without it, it'd be like $5 cheaper. And though Aspires suck, it wouldn't be a bad thing to keep for testing computers with to see if they have a bad psu.
