Getting ready to build a new rig and I have no idea what size power supply is needed. Below are the components I've decided upon. Need some suggestions. Thanks

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz
ABIT AN9 32X AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP/SPP 190
XFX PVT80GGHF4 GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
4GB DDR2 800 RAM
Seagate Barracuda (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
Plus all the other normal stuff like DVD burner and CPU Fan.

Yes, any high quality 460+ watt (high amperage of the 12v rail is more important than 'wattage' really) should be fine for your intended setup. The Corsair 520Hx or a similar Silverstone, Etasis, PC Power and Cooling, Enermax, or if you're on a budget Enhance or Xclio.

I don't know, the 520HX for ~$80AR seems like a pretty good budget to me. :D

for that set-up the corsair 450 has plenty of power and a 5 year warrenty, the only thing is it doesn't have modular cables, but its a nice power supply, the 520 corsair has modular cables and 2 pci power connections and is what you would need for an 8800 gtx, but if i were you i'd get the 450 since theres no need in having more power than you need unless you have a window on your case and think the modular cables would look nicer or plan on an 8800 gtx

Considering the bell curve efficiency curve of the Corsair/Seasonic PSUs you'd actually be paying less per watt with the 520HX.

Why does it seem like there's a link to the the eXtremely Worthless PSU calculator in every thread lately?

Another vote for the Corsair 520.

well i like the 520 also and that is what i have in my system but the 450 has plenty of power for the system being built but the 520 would allow for future upgrades
such as running 2 vid cards in SLI mode plus the modular cables are nice
