I'm considering getting the Dell 2007wfp or the ViewSonic VX2025wm. Maybe possibly a nice 19". Please help me decide. Oh I play alot of fps games. Thanks

Most would probably say as big as you can afford. If you can get a 30" Dell 3007 or the equivalent ACD then go for it. It will offer an immersive gaming experience.

I wouldn't agree. It does depend on the sort of gaming you do.

First of all, the smaller monitors (19 and 20") are currently available with faster panels. This may change but chances are with the faster large panels will come the introduction of even faster smaller panels. Ghosting is pretty bad (in my opinion) on the Dell 2405 for example (which I have.)

Secondly, and more importantly, is the issue of viewing angle. With 24" panels at normal viewing distance, you cant see the whole screen all at once without moving your eyes and head - in FPS games (especially multiplayer games) you are more likely to miss some action taking place at the edges of the screen. For more casual gaming, I would agree 24" can be more immersive because some of the action is happening in your vision's periphery.

Third, the higher resolutions really push the limits of todays video cards, even SLI based setups when you turn the eye candy on.

So evaluate what's most important to you, and the answer will become clear. I don't think there is one right answer so don't just listen to what everyone says, consider your own needs carefully.

depends on your hardware such as grfx.. Sure a lot of video cards can produce 1920x1200 (or w/e) but the next gen games that come out might be making harder on the older cards to still run the high resolutions.. Its all PERSONAL PREFERENCE. I have the 2005fpw and I like it but now I want the 24" widescreen..

sethk hit it right on the head. If you're a hardcore fps'er you probably don't want a 24inch or bigger monitor. First off it won't be as smooth because you pretty much have to play the super high resolution with your video card. Secondly, the choice of low response time monitors will be limited. My 19 inch 2ms response time lcd monitor plays just like a CRT with liquid smooth movement. Something to consider.

What are some really good 19" lcd's?
I did a bit of research when looking for a gaming monitor and decided on the 19 inch viewsonic vx922 I have now. I use it dual monitor with my old dell 1901fp (25ms reponse.. yuck). Read nothing but great reviews on it. Only problem people have with it is that sometimes if you try to view the monitor from a higher or lower angle... the screen can appear to have different brightness levels.
