What should my CPU temp be for this setup?

I have a socket 478 P4 3.2Ghz with a case with this case:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811112087

With a better 12cm fan in the back (I forget name). I have a P4P800 MB, with 2x512 Cosair dual channel ram, and I have this CPU heatsink/fan:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835106061

And I have my MB set to 10% OC in the BIOS settings.

When CPU idles anywhere from 38-42 C, and when I test it under load using SP2004 (http://sp2004.fre3.com/), It goes up to anywhere from 48-51 C. Isnt this way to high for my CPU heatsink/fan and the good airflow my case has? I didnt put on too much thermal grease (and I use Artic Silver 5), only alittle bit and spread it out like I was suppose to, so im sure the thermal grease is isntalled correctly.

I just installed the CPU heatsink/fan today, is there some kind of "settling" time before I start to get cooler temps, or is there something wrong with my setup?

arctic silver site says 200hours set time, and shutting down pc to let it cool, guess part of the process, though i usually never shut my pc down, i will for this, but my idle is too high atm i suppose 45c and when under load 50, or 54 when folding, when the 200hours passes next wed, im gonna take off and try thermal grease instead of the thermal compound i used, but who knows.

no overclock here yet.

60C is what you don't want to break but anythign below that is fine (just try not to get in high fifties and keep it there for ages) Also don't get the voltage above 1.6V

Yours runs fine at the moment.

Sorry if I missed it, but what are you using for a HSF? Unless it's a high performance air cooler or you have ridiculously high room temperatures I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Are these high temps for a HSF like that?

Still kinda tough to tell...what is your room temperature like where the computer is? The temps aren't HORRIBLE...but that's one of (if not the) best HSF you can have right now, and it still seems like the temps could be lower. Maybe it's just me though, what's your room temp like?

My room temp is usually around 73-74 F

And yes, thats why im asking... for a HSF like that the temps seem high.

So your room temps are in the 20-25C range...which is about where I'm usually sitting...one thing I don't know if you made me aware of already was if this is a 3.2C northwood P4 we're talking about or a 3.2E Prescott. If it's a 3.2E then it's not as much to worry about at all, but if this is a (slightly) cooler running 3.2C then I might try re-seating the HSF to see if it makes any difference.
