Specs:

Abit-AV8 Motherboard
Geforce 6600GT
Amd 64-bit 3400+
1GB PC3200 Ram
500 Watt Aspire PSU

Now here is the deal, people are telling me my PSU sucks ass. So this is what I did. I know BF2 is coming out and I need to get a little better stuff. Call me dumb but I felt weird with 1GB ram, and I have spare money so I bought an extra pc3200 OCZ GB of Ram.. So I have 2 GB of ram.. Do you think the extra gig will make my pc a lot hotter? My pc still restarts once in a while, do you think it will restart even more cuz of the new gig.. Both gigs (1 stick each) have a heatspreader on them.. WIll a way better PSU help cool my pc down a lot? Will it restart anymore?? Oh yeah, also, i got a new temperature lcd display, and i wanna know should I keep it on Fahrenhieght or Celsius? Because I am american and fahrenheight is the basic temperature for us.. But when I check my BIOS everything is under celsius first! So maybe I should set it to celsius because maybe technology is measured in celsius? IDK!! lol anyways.. Let me know and if you find me a powerful psu 500+ wattage or more, post links and stuff.. Thanks!!!!

Please use paragraph form for any long posts. ;)

Your PSU is in fact a pile of shit. Reference:

If you have a PSU that has an exhaust fan on the underside will help cool your case a little bit, so a new PSU may help.

2GB of RAM is debatable if it will help. I will say it won't make a noticable difference, or a mild one at that.

The extra RAM won't heat up your computer much at all. Just make sure you have an exhaust fan and an intake fan.

It doesn't matter what temp your display is set at with this:

Well people are right, your PSU isn't that good. I would definately get a new PSU before I got anything else. It is the powerhouse of your system and it vital in protecting your system purchase. Buying a new PSU will not cool your system better per say, but it will cool itself better leading to increased wattage efficiency - there will also be no more restarts.

Keep the temp scale on Celsius, its pretty much universal among overclockers.

You also don't need more wattage, just a better powersupply. What are you running by the way (hard drives)?

Install a new PSU as recommended, and it might get rid of your stability problems. I like Antec PSU's, but there are good ones from Enermax and OCZ.

I'm using a 200GB and 80GB Maxtor hardrives.. I got the 1GB of ram, I soon will get a new power supply.. The one I have will be fine for now.. When I work in a little bit, i'll spend a lot of money on a new psu.. I'll probably get one of those $150 ones.. You think i am taking a risk using this power supply? Is it harmful?? I only restart when turning it on, but once I get past that I start to go into gaming and stuff and it is solid.. Maybe turning the power on fast is just a shock to it, overworking it! idk.. Well I am running at 80-88 degrees fahrenheight! That's good right???

I ran my pc like 8 hours straight gaming and stuff and it never went above 88.. My cpu usually runs like 53 celsius!!! After gaming and such!!!

I had a POW(they aren't kidding)max PSU in my main rig. :(

After a while, I had to hit the power button 10-20 times before it would turn on. Suddenly one day I turned it on and BOOM! No more PSU. Lucky it didn't take anything out with it.

Moral of the story:
Spending $100 on a good PSU to protect $1000+ of hardware = good investment.
