If you were me.
Here is my dilemma. I have a month off for xmas break, and I have a desktop at school, but there is no way I am going to pay $30+ each way to ship it home and ship it back (plus the week it times to ship.) However, I don't think I could stand not having my comp for over a month. My idea is to shrink down to a SFF. This way I could save space in my dorm room, and also I could carry it on in my backpack for flights to and from home so even for week long breaks I could have my comp at my disposal. Now here is my real dilemma.
Do I spend $300 now on an 875P based SFF and just shrink down the mobo / case / psu.
Or do I drop a grand, upgrade my SFF to the newest Shuttle (just reviewed on the [H]), a Winchester 3500+ and a 6800GT?
If I drop the grand now, it means I won't be able to upgrade till next xmas at the earliest. However, I don't think that would really be an issue assuming that dual core probably won't be available cheaply until then anyways. Moreover, since I won't be using SLI in a SFF, AGP vs. PCI doesn't really matter to me, at least until I'm out of college and done traveling back and forth between "homes".
What would you guys do?
