So i really want to build a new pc.

Right now i have a

2.4 p4 (northwood)oc'd to 3.4...and air cooled!!!
2gb kingston hyper-x pc3500
abit ic7-g mobo
2 hitatchi 120gb sata HD (never got the raid to work correctly)
ati x800 xl 256,
windows xp pro sp2

I play a lot of games on it, and do a lot of 3d modeling... it runs flawless nothing is really bogged down...but im just wondering if the technology itself is old, am i missing anything (besides 64bit windows...which just isn't there yet..) or do you think with this current rig i can hold off another year?

so do i even need to upgrade? Should i just wait till next year for a new crop of cpus?

I really am interested in the dual cores...but the intels seem to just suck and the amd's wow are they expensive...

So if i should build a new pc...what would you guys recommend? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Hold off for now... there are many users on this forum who are satisfied with their older (than yours) computers. And if it runs everything fine then you don't have to worry about having to upgrade anything. And don't worry too much about not having WinXP 64; right now there are very few programs (and drivers) that are optimized to run on it. Use this time to figure out what you want, and once you come to that decision, start saving for it.
