I want to build a 10x 2 or 10 x 3 TB file server running solaris with ZFS. This will just house all of my downloads, media, music, basically everything.
I want to have redundancy that way if a drive or 2 fails I can replace them and not lose anything.
I know I will need a raidz or raidz2 or raidz3 setup depending on the number of drives I want to allow to fail.
My question is, when it comes to vdevs is there something specific I need to do? I hear the more vdevs the more performance you can get. Is it possible to just setup 10 vdevs each with 1 drive in it with a raidz setup or do you have to setup the vdevs based on the raidz level you want to run?
