What screw size for holes on BIPRO3?

I just got the BIPRO3 in today and was placing it around in the case to see what I'm going to do. Part of that was seeing if I could use the drive cage of the TT armor to screw the BIPRO3 in. That most likely won't work but in the process I was testing the screws the original 120mm fan was attached with and they would not screw into the bipro3 holes. The other screws I had that came with the case were either the same size but shorter or would fall through. I don't know where they get the auto threading holes on their website from but it would not thread these and they seem to be appropriate??

Lastly I'm using evercool aluminum fans, they are very nice looking but they also have a strange screw issue where half the circumfrance of the hole you put the screw in is empty. I guess if you screw it into something like BIPRO3 for example it should hold, still first time I've seen a fan like that and if you try to use the same screw from behind it will do nothing, seems like it will need washers, nuts, and bolts(I know, welcome to watercooling) to hold it down to anything.

I'm not looking so much for advice about the fan, as I am how I can screw any fan into the BIPRO3 when it's not being so receptive. If I can get some ideas about properly using that evercool fan that would be great too but not necs.

Thank you in advance.

Edit: No solutions with hammers please ;P

Use 6-32 machine screws. You can buy self tapping screws, or go a somewhat better route and buy a 6-32 tap at the hardware store for about $5.

You sure about that as I thought it was a metric?

For normal cases, it's 6-32. Small screws (floppy/cdrom) are 4-40.

Edit: You can use a metric if it fits, of course.

i had the same question as well when i did mine. I actually took my RAD to the store to fit it to the screws, until I found the one that fit.

I do believe it was 6-32.. and then i had to use nuts and bolts to attach them to the grill as the grill didn't match the fans..

neither here nor there though..

heres the pics of my connecting the fan to the rad, and the assorted screws.

The head of them is probably metric. A while back I found a web page detailing the sizes and threads of all common computer screws, and it said there were a lot of goofball things like metric heads with US threads.

i just messed with my bip single to put a shroud on it and i used 3inch drywall screws from ACE to put it back togther .. pulled into the sheet metal nicely..

Another way that I used was to use these J-style clip-on nuts from McMaster-Carr along with #8-32 bolts.

You have to drill out the holes in the rad a little, but that way I was sure everything was secure.

They've got 'em from #6 as well...

Those don't happen to be like rack mounting clip nuts? I considered those, but they didn't seem to work perfectly. It's much easier to just tap the rad holes to 6-32 and use a 1 1/4" long screw.

that link doesn't work.

Sorry, McMaster-Carr's website is defeating me...

Do a search for "j-style nuts" and you'll see what I'm talking about...
