You didn't read and/or respond to what the OP requested....
He also asked for something small, and the Eheim 1250 is a pretty darn large pump. The CSP pump is smaller, will perform almost as well, wont be quite as quiet, but it will be cheaper.

the via aqua is a high head pump
I know exactly what the EVO is, and I know that it has a very low pressure drop. That doesn't change the fact that the 1250 is a large pump, and more expensive than other offerings which will serve his needs just as well.
Eheims are excellent pumps, but they dont necessarily fit the bill of cheap and small. Next to Iwaki's they are about the most expensive AC pumps you can buy (for good reason they are very quiet and very reliable).

So is there a reason I can't go for the Eheim 1046?? I'm guessing the are quite and reliable pumps which I think is a good thing I'm happy to accomadate the size...
Are you lot recomending the 1250 for a reason other than its the best and would leave room for future expansion??
Coz the UK price is £44 for the 1250 and £28 for the 1046!!
Also what does the low pressure drop mean?

go for the 1046. Pressure drop refers to the resistance a component provides against flow. The higher the pressure drop the harder the pump works to move water....the slower the water goes. If you go for the 1046 I would be careful about the waterblock you choose. I would suggest a waterblock with low restriction, which performs well at low flow like the Swiftech MCW6000. I would steer clear of those pseudo high flow, high restriction blocks like the Nexxxos XP (and likely Cuplex XT).
