What Pump? Is a 12v Pump worth it?

I was thinking of getting a ViaAqua 1300 Pump (it's $35 at the most) but I was also thinking of either the DD or Swiftech Pumps. The ViaAqua's performance is on par with the Hydor 30 pump but it is kind of big and I hear noisy (it vibrates too much but thats fixable).

What I would like is a good, quiet, small pump that has awesome performance. Would it be worth it to spend the extra cash and get a DD/SW pump?

Looking for some feedback from owners of those two pumps. I'll be checking out the pet stores tomorrow for the ViaAqua pump, if I can't find it locally then I'll have to order it online at which point I can get either the VA pump or the DD/SW pump.

i have the d4 12v pump and i have to say i love it. with the fans @7v all i can hear is the pump humming..and the humming can barely be heard (tower right next to me). my typing is louder than the pump noise.

note: the noise can be the harddrives..not sure though :D

i have a 650 mcp and i love its small and very powerfull, especially for its size, if you have the money i would go with one. then again you can get a via aqua for like 21 bucks. and thats hard to beat.

The swiftech really moves water, it's quite impressive. However, make sure you have all the air out of it because even a little makes it 5X louder.

I just ordered a VA1300 online, my local fish stores dont stock it and I dont wanna wait a few weeks for it. The few reviews of it have all been impressive especially versus the Hydor and Eheim pumps. On par performance at half the cost. A VA 900 or even 600 will work for a single waterblock setup but for the low price of a 1300 will guarantee you expandability if you want to add a GPU or northbride later. Wiring it into your comps PSU is pretty easy to do.

Were did you order yours Mike? I've seen just a handful of places that sell them.

I've had the first one bookmarked but the second is a new one, thanks.

Should I go with the 12v pump? Cash isn't really an issue but if I can save some that's great.
I figure that if I go with the 1300 then I could get two pumps (I have a 2.5 gallon tank).

Guy on Ebay has 2 up rite now at 19.95 buy it now and 8 bucks shipping but that 13 buck one listed above is a steal.

I bought from a Canadian supplier, e-compuserve.com at competative pricing but if ur not from the great white north get it in the states for a little less.

BTW heres overclockers.com comparison of the VA1300 and a few of the most popular hydor and eheim pumps: http://www.overclockers.com/articles723/

I'd either get the dtek version of the 600 pump or two of their new tiny pumps. Very quite and great performance. The DD pump is known to be loud.....

/ I like the dtek version because it's all black.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll get a pair of ViaAqua pumps and then wait til I see a great deal on a Switech pump. BTW Rick sweet setup you got there, I saw your WC stuff in another thread and have to say that Aqua-Computer stuff looks sexy.
