What PSU do you recommend?

I have read so many guides on what PSU to choose and what to get what not to get... Ive been to the calculator on the SLI zone site etc.

I just wanted to let you guys know what I'm going to be running and see if any red flags come up.


MB: eVGA 680i (NF68-a1)
CPU: Q6600 (oc'd 3.0ghz)
RAM: 4GB Mushkin xp
Video: 2x Asus EN8800 GTX 768mb cards

I have a razer barricuda soundcard, 2 320gb harddrives in raid o, loads of fans, case lights, etc.

So overkill on the PSU is my goal.

Heres the PSU's I had in mind both from Silverstone:

SILVERSTONE OP1000 (1000w) - single 12v rail, non modular
SILVERSTONE Strider ST1000 (1000w) - dual 12v rail, modular


I want a PSU thats >1000w and under $300 basicly. Any good ones I missed?

I really dont think you need a power supply over 1000w, the one I have and love so much is the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad and would do just fine for your setup, its even one of Nvidias requested PSU's for SLI. It even has a great savers sale on it right now too. Now if you plan on going 3 way SLI anytime, then I would get the Tagan 1100 Watts Power Supply

Any of the above power supplies would be more than enough for what you have, but then again you are going for overkill. I would gow ith the modular PSU personally just for the cable management, but the OP1000 is an excellent PSU as well.

Thanks for looking over my ideas! Just wanted to make sure the silverstone supplys were cool.

Syndome, I have a 700w seasonic now im very happy with but I want to step up to something 1000w+ not much point in upgrading to something that will turn out 50 extra watts.
