Before I begin, don't call me biased. I used my home phone number and personal non-HP e-mail address for this transaction.

I bought an 8 port HP Procurve Switch on ebay about 8 months ago. Just this week, it started having problems with the auto-negotiation of the ports (you don't define one as uplink, the ports figures it out for you). I sent an e-mail in from our public web page at 3:30 PM EST. At 4, I got an e-mail asking for the model and serial numbers, and my address. I immediately replied with my info. I was told the switch was failing, and I would get a new one. The next day (this morning) at 10:00 AM EST, my new switch arrived, with pre-paid return shipping. This is not an enterprise switch that has a support contract. Just when I may have lost faith, I have something here to show me why we're ranked number 1 in customer support for the past two years.

CTX and KDS have the same poilicies. In fact, Maxtor and Western Digital do the same thing, although you gotta pay freight one way.

Dell used to have the same support (not anymore) ... happy to know HP does too ... does this extend to the Compaq branded ones? Or do they have a separate system?

We still maintain the old Compaq numbers (since they're printed in the user manuals), but they now ring to the same place...and it's all handled by the same place as well.
