What problem is this?

A Co-worker is having this problem. He's tried replacing his mobo and video card, but to no avail. The comp was working fine until he put in some new drivers (the latest catalyst). The same results happen with an x700 or x800 (both SLI).

apparently it will sometimes go back to being fine, with no problems whatsoever.

Looks like problems caused by bad memory or excessive arctic silver oozed out onto some of the circuit components. (The arctic silver caused issues take a while to show up because the stuff squezes out from between heatsinks in a very fine layer over a long period of time)

New power supply?

I think his main problem is Internet Explorer.

He said that he's going to try to get a new PSU to rule that out. I'll ask him on the other things though.

I think he just got some new memory, so I'll ask him about htat too.

It's not the arctic silver. The mobo and vid card have both been replaced.

SLI?

Does he have good airflow through the case? could a faulty chassis fan making it hotter than it should. Also try changing the cable connecting the monitor to the card. could be damaged.
