what plays .flac files?

What codecs can I download for WMP or for foobar if any exist that can play .flac files?
 
Note: foo_flac component in 0.8.3 installer downloaded before 2004-09-05 can damage FLAC files when updating tags in certain situations. If you have files in that format download the fixed version.

How about trying that in english so we can figure out why it doesn't work? ;)

What software you using to rip the files and to playback the files?
That should get us started. ;)

I didn't rip the files. Friend got them for me from torrent. I use .8.3 Foobar to play my stuff.
 
Load the preferances dialog in foobar (ctrl P) and scroll up to the component libraries thing and check to make sure all of the component libraries loaded correctly.
If they did I would suspect the files are bogus.
What kind of message does it give you when you try to play the files?

All loaded properly.


Hmm...the files that do play get this error:

I haven't really had much experience with FLAC or foobar, but it sounds like the file might have gotten corrupted. The CRC in the second line from the bottom there stands for Cyclic Redundancy Check. Basically a check to see if the file looks the way it is supposed to. If they match, the file is ok, if they don't match, the file has changed since it's creation. You will probably need to get the file from another source.

 
if you download the entire flac package from the sourceforge site, with it will come the frontend for encoding/decoding/testing flac files. load up all of your flac files into it and test them to see if they're in good shape. like mentioned above, they could be corrupted.
