in specific, what should i be using?

Distilled water, Pentosin G11, _____?
am i fine without the PT NUKE?

and what is the ideal mixture?

and it'd be best to prepare all of this outside of the case in a separate bottle before pouring in..

i hear i can just get copper sulfate from a pet shop for fish, is that right? how much should i put in?

What about the silver Killcoils? are they the same as PT Nuke and the Copper Sulfate from aquarium?
and is 1x killcoil all i need for the entire setup? i can put it in any section of tubing?
 
1. What's in your loop. Are you mixing metals? If not, you don't need the pentosin. Distilled + Silver KillCoils will be fine.

2. Yes killcoils are the same basically as PTnuke
 
I am wondering this as well. My main problem is that my system has 3 gallons running through it... so buying something pre-mixed at $15+ for 32oz. is too $$$. So I wonder what I can add as a biocyde and anti-corrosive (radiator is aluminum, blocks are copper). I would like to add UV dye as well, but that might be too expensive.
 
Undertheradar... You should run at least a 1:10 ratio of pentosin to distilled water. This water should be changed annually.

Any 1:0 concentrated antifreeze (IE, not the 50/50 prediluted sold in some stores) can be substituted for pentosin... Distilled water and your car's antifreeze would be fine for most uses.
 
Just be careful with pentosin. That is, just because Petra's sells it doesn't mean it's ideal. Pentosin has a history going back to high pressure aircraft engines and was formulated for such enthusiast machines. A simple ethylene glycol mixture (even the pet friendly ones) performs equally as well.

It has been proven, through the test of time and usage, to be the best additive available to WC enthusiasts without purchasing 4L or so.
 
Like said, if you arent mixing metals, i would just go with distilled water, and a drop or two of PT Nuke depending how much water your loop holds.

Lets seeee.... Petra's sells pentosin at $4.50 for 4oz. At a 1:10 ratio, thats about 51 bottles of that stuff for a grand total of $230. Uh... yeah... ANY OTHER IDEAS??! I have 3 gallons, which is about 384 oz. of fluid in my system. At $230 per year... it would make more sense to simply let the blocks corrode.

I'm getting for 9.6 bottles at.$43.20 to get 1:10 with 3gals.
 
First, you're doing very bad math. 1 part G11 to 10 parts water. 384 oz total volume / 10 = 38.4 oz (roughly) G11 required. That's 10 bottles of 4 oz/bottle G11, not 51.

For that kind of quantity, you'd likely be better off buying it from an auto retailer, not a computer water cooling specialty house.

I'm not suggesting this retailer, just showing you what I mean. There's around 50 ounces in that one container. I'm pretty sure G11 is available at about any VW dealer or VW parts house.
 
I thought I wanted G12... I want G11?

I suppose I can just go to an automotive place for it... one gallon for about $30 seems the norm.

The only thing you need if you aren't mixing metals is distilled H20 + some kind of algacide. You don't even need the algaicide if you use only distilled H20 + wash your system out with distilled prior to charging the circuit. BTW, putting your mouth on the tubes during assembly will contaminate your system.

If you are mixing metals it is highly advisable to use some kind of corrosion inhibitor (lots are made with varying properties, take your pick) + an algacide. Please keep in mind that some corrosion inhibitors also kill off algae.

Any car store antifreeze will work.

But didja miss:
