What makes an LCD blurry?

Well, I've been through 2 LCD monitors, both a little over 400 dollars, and have returned/sold both due to the text being very blurry on the screen. I've tried cleartype, they were all running at their native resolution at highest bit color and the right refresh rates.

Anyway, I'm wondering what I should look for to avoid blurry text on an LCD monitor. I've never had this problem with CRT's, but it's obviously something with LCD's... Anyway, what do you look for to avoid this? All I've heared about is contrast ratios and refresh rates, but obviously that's not all to getting a good LCD..

Thanks for any help :)

Text should be much sharper with LCD's. Did your displays have dvi inputs?

Nope, none of them had DVI inputs, they were both using normal monitor inputs... Could that have been the problem?

I know it's not my computer, because they were blurry on my dad's computer too...

you should test the monitors out on a different video card.
Even on analog, text should look very sharp. Definitely sharper than a CRT.

Did you try running them at 60Hz, instead of their max refresh rates?

There are tons of settings on the monitor itself that totally changes teh way the screen looks. Try it, I had same problem

Try it on a different video card. My roomies monitor's text looks really blurry too, I thought maybe it was because of the analog connection - but I connected that monitor to my laptop, and it looks so much better. I could barely tell it apart from my DVI setup. :)

ClearFont/type should set it correctly.
The clarity in my old 17' CRT is no much for my LCD.
