I have been asked to help get my uncle a new computer.
Out of the 2 low end cards what one would you get a 5200 or a X300?

I'd follow brent's advice.. I dont remember the x300 benchies but they're Bound to be better than that pos 5200.

Edit: btw I love you Brent, have my babies? :p lol no, I admire your work, your benchmarking skills are the only reason I only look at [H] benchies any more if possible. I don't even give any other benchies a second look if we have one done here, I figure why re-invent the wheel? Couldn't be better than the top notch stuff you guys did. I'm a proud [H] member fo-life :D, keep it up bro.

Does he play games? If not, get onboard graphics.

Edit: I know that wasn't one of the options, but if he's not playing games then it's definatly a much cheaper alternative.

I'd tend to agree, this is a great option if you haven't bought the mobo yet. And if you are buying AMD 64s the new ATI chipset motehrboards that are coming out already have an x300 on them onboard.

Edit: here is the [H] preview for that ATI chipset I was speaking of: http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=Njg1
