i just finished setting up my water cooling system and was wondering if i should put something OTHER than water in it. I want to put listerine mouthwash in there to stop algae growth, or antifreeze to stop bacterial growth but am AFRAID that those liquid are corrosive and will deteriorate the tubes and radiator over time. Any advice???
 
90/10 Distilled Water / Antifreeze is a very commonly used mixture. It will help prevent corrosion and with antifreeze as poisonous as it is, there's not much that will grow in your loop :D
 
I took a chance on the Primochill PC Ice coolant... and it has turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made...

The stuff goes for $20 a bottle on the major sites (xoxide and frozencpu)... Its said to run 2 degrees cooler than water w/coolant and algecides... But I can't vouch for that as in this loop, I never ran water.

Prevents algae, and says to extend the life of the pump, and judging from the liquid (its a little thicker than water, but not much)... I would say that it helps keep the pump lubed.

The bonus that snagged me: Its non-conductive.

Since I take my PC to alot of LANs, a bump or a small leak doesn't worry me anymore... Just a simple check of fluid level. I dont worry about components getting fried.
