it is my 4th lcd screen after samsung 226 bw ( green text is 1650x1050!!!!..blurry in other

resolutions.........dell 2007wfp..same thing. except text(not green).....viewsonic 2235 same thing than

the samsung..... now i have the nec 20 wmgx2 : text is ok in 1650x1050 but it is too small in

web browser......in other resolutions format(16x10) it not sharp.... i try clear type type but it is not

perfect like a crt monitor............................ that is the bad thing of a LCD .............only one native resolution this one :1650x1050............

a CRT that have no problem with other res. ..................if you are not in native resolution it is blurry a bit not just text..............all 4 monitor!!!!!!!! but the NEC is the better one( game no problem) i have a 8800 gt............ last drivers.................. so anyone have the same problems?????????????????????????????

so the downside of a lcd is that have ONLY...one native resolution.

I think he's saying he's having problems with blurry text when using non-native resolutions on an LCD. He saying that CRT's didn't have that problem and that he's on his 4th LCD, but text still doesn't look clear even with clear type enabled.

However, I don't understand why you're not using your LCD at native resolution? Is there a particular reason why you're not running your LCD at it's native res? The only time I don't use my LCD's native res is when I'm playing a game that my x1900xt can't run at 1920x1200 (my LCD's native res).

Change the font size to bigger, instead of playing with the resolutions.

in firefox you must hit keys control + ( first page) after it is the same as explorer ......see below

in explorer the firt page shows larger font with the settings after that when you browse it become smaller !!!!!

ok but how?
Right-click your Desktop > Properties > Appearance > Font Size > Select "Large" or "Extra Large" > Apply > OK

some pages tend to be a bit restrictive about how they can be viewed..

If you got bad eyesight you might want to consider getting a 32 inch LCD TV as a monitor (1366x786 resolution) making everything almost twice as big.

1600 x 1200 or 1280 x 720 on the PJ.

EDIT: crap. didn't realize this was an advice thread. thought this was a poll. my bad.

that was an edited post?

anyways. I don't know about the green text. That seems to either be a bad monitor or maybe driver? I don't know.

Just right click on desktop and goto properties-settings-appearence-effects. Choose large icons.

Then under the same settings goto advanced-general and up the dpi to a setting you like.

Then go download this from microsoft and run it http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/7/0/b7019730-0fa3-47a9-a159-98b80c185aad/setup.exe

It is cleartype tuner from this page http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx if you don't want to click on exe.

The font size thing mentioned above with holding ctrl and moving mouse wheel up and down should fix it.You can change the font size for webpages in the settings for browser.

Why don't you also choose a system font that works better for you?

Sit closer to the monitor. That's the best solution to your problem. All text will look bigger. Can't help you on the green text problem, sorry.

where can i found one?

tyvm:) :) :) :)

you can find fonts all over the place, dafont.com is a free one to start. I've been using calibri for a while now. http://www.dbarbour.com/files/calibri.ttf . Make sure you run that tuner too as you can adjust things to your liking rather than just smoothing the fonts only.

Look at that picture on the first page and get to that spot. Then click on advanced and under Item click on each item and go through it. Once you click on say Active title bar, you get more options right there and can change the font for some options. Paste that .ttf file into Control Panel-Fonts and it will install.

To fix the problem (did you change the dpi first?) for your browser goto Menu-tools-options-content. You will see a default font/size selection below. Change that number higher. It will work for subsequent clickthroughs. It does on mine atleast in firefox.

edit: what taco said. This is giving me a headache.
