Just wondering guys, because I dont know if this system can handle it or not... like I said on another thread I`m adding a 512 stick real real soon...soooo..I`ll be little bit better right?

Just wondering what your framerates are....

and if you`ve had any load errors or freezes

P4 2.8 @ 3.3, Radeon 9700 (stock speeds wont OC)... All on high, reflect world, 2AA, Trileaniar... I get 80-160 generally. Take off the AA and i get 120-220.

edited - sorry, misread your systems specs

Anyway tho, on the ram, I run 1600x1200 2xAA 8xAF, high settings except medium sound, and the only problem I seem to get from having 512mb of ram is longer loading times and a hitch once in a while (2-3 seconds long, it's very rare).

My advice is to save the money for a different upgrade.

I get 60+ Fps everywhere with the settings to max, and the game on 1152x864, 4XAA and 8XAF, I have 1GB Ram AMD XP3200 and a Geforce 6800GT.

1280x1024 4xaa and 8xaf all settings high and coastline is a BITCH to my cpu :( but everything else was always up in the 60's area

how much of a quality/performance difference would i get if i would turn my trilinear opts off? i was thinking about doing that and then lowering the res if it didnt hurt that much

1280x1024, 4xAA 16xAF, Reflect World, All high, all ops off, Highest Quality in CP, and I Average about 100... I dun think I've dipped below 60, even on coast line.

my system:

AMD Athlon64 3500+ 90nm s939
ASUS A8V Deluxe
PowerColor Radeon 9800 PRO 256mb
2x512 Crucial PC3200
7200 RPM 80gb Western Digital WD800JD

Playing at 1024x768 with 4xAA,16xAF, all high quality, reflect world.

I get 120-160 fps

1600x1200, 6800 gt at stock, A64 3400+ Clawhammer. My fps never really dips below 60 anywhere, with everything on high with 4xaa 8xAF reflect world, although my CPU takes a hit sometimes and lowers my fps because im bottlenecked on my ram, its 512 XMS 2700 =( I believe for christmas im getting 1 gig of corsair xms 2-2-2-5 PC3200.

I'm flipping out man, my frames drop to 20s and 30s!, check the sig

Uhm, mainly 75fps with some low-dips into the mid-40s during firefights on water levels with my flashlight on. 1280x960, 6xAAt2/16xAF/v-sync ON forced thru Radlinker on Bubbles:

Barton mobility 35w 2400+ (12x200)
NF7-S rev 2
1Gb PC3200
Saphire X800 Pro VIVO (flashed 16 pipes 500/540)
Audigy2
TV-wonder VE
80Gb WD
200Gb sATA WD
DSL (384/384)
Cable (6Mb/128)

Tested, and I get the same FPS as my above post at 1600x1200 4xAA and 8xAF... I didn't think AF would make as much a difference as resolution?

I use 1600 6xAA / 16xAF or 2048 2xAA / 16xAF, haven't noticed any framerate drops, have yet to try [H] benches (been at girlfriends all week). Specs in sig.

using the hardocp demos:

HL2 settings:
Model Detail = High
Texture Detail = High
Water Detail = Reflect World
Shadow Detail = High
Anti-Aliasing Mode = None/2X/4X
Filtering Mode = Trilinear/8xAF
Shader Detail = High
Wate for Vertical Sync = Disabled

6600GT @ 535/1200, 67.02 drivers, Negative LOD Bias @ Clamp... no other tweaks, system in sig

8xAF, 2xAA, 1600x1200
hardocptimedemo_canals01 46.7fps
hardocptimedemo_coast03 54.0fps

Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo @ 355/570, 4.12b, no tweaks, laptop in sig

trilinear, no AA, 1280x768
hardocptimedemo_canals01 40.5fps
hardocptimedemo_coast03 33.9fps

Both play pretty good.

GAh, that's such BS.

Nice! The 6600GT is an impressive piece of hardware, I almost waited to get one of those myself...

The Anandtech HL2 benches ( http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2278&p=13 ) have it performing on equal terms with the 6800nu under almost any conditions! And at ~$200, Looks like it just may take the vanilla's place in the gaming market.
