I tried overclocking my video card 7900GTO and when i am able to set higher speeds i get lower scores.. and when i first benched i did okay but setting it @ those speeds gives me artifacts in ati tool:

now when i tried setting it to 690/780 since i got the best scores on those i get artifacts in ati tool :( how come?

did you watch the temps? what are they? and ATI tools is bs it underclocks my 7950GX2 how dumb.

There are certain cases where, a really high clockspeed, actually hurts your performance.

If your temperatures are too high, or certain shaders are producing errors, your score is going to decrease.

It's fairly well known that, at certain speeds, your card will produce worse results at a very high clockspeed without adaquate voltage.

:)

right now im scanning for artifacts @ 670Mhz/750Mhz
my temp is 64 degrees
how do i check and change how much volts my card is getting?

With a multimeter and some solder.

No, I'm not joking.

You can also flash to the GTX bios, which I believe pumps another 0.05v through the chip!

i am using the BIOS 05.71.22.39.08 and when i loaded it into Nibitor it shows 1.4V.. how much volts does a GTX get?

I'm almost positive the GTX flash only increases the Vram voltage... Now that I've done a bit of research.

But I dont have a 7900GTO, and therefore this suggestion should be taken with a grain of salt.
