What is wrong with me ?

If you are such a huge FPS'er, go buy gears of war 1 and 2, gow1 online is the best console fps'er ive ever played. gow2 needs some work with the matchmaking, and im sure it'll come along fine.

Like I said before I really dont like playing games on consoles. Playing an FPS on a console to me feels like playing tennis without the racket. And yes I do have a PS3 with about 10 games or so but my bro ends up playing it the most.

I think what someone said above about reading too much previews spoils the game is right. These days there is way to much information about a game years ahead of its release. I mean look at how many videos and information was rammed down our throats about Crysis.

Not only that but these days games are always delayed so game developers in order not to piss off their customers release even more videos and info to keep stalling people. By the time the game eventually gets released people know every damn thing about the game without even playing it and so have a certain amount of expectation.

I mean why do game developers release so much information (some may say mis-information)about their games? Surely it would be wiser to just release teasers just like Valve do with their Half Life series. I mean who heard about FarCry the first one before its release? I knew nothing about that game expecting nothing in return and I really did enjoy most of it (trigens excluded).

Game developers need to stop chatting shit and spreading bollucks about their games and just concentrate on releasing half decent games. Maybe without the huge hype I would end up enjoying an unknown game once in a while.

pretty sure gow1 is also on the pc, and im pretty sure i was going to buy it, because i hate console fps too. the control is usually horrible. but gow is the exception for me. so was golden eye 007 for n64.

i just picked up gow2 since gow was awesome for me. not sure if im going to get gow1 for pc now. although im sure its probably better, i dont really have any friends that own gow on pc, everyone has a friggin xbox these days.

i need more pc friends. :(

f

what allowed me to still enjoy things was trading the PC as a gaming tool for a Xbox 360 (or console of choice), with it i turn it on, play some, and turn it off, things are more simple and much easier to pick and and drop quickly too, now my PC is actually used for things like surfing, email, video, audio, etc... that kind of thing

best move i have made in a long time, very happy now;)

Soooo, why are you hanging out in the PC gaming forum instead of the console/general games forum? You do not PC game at all according to your post above. Microsoft does not need your help in recruiting more 360 gamers.

OP, you really got to mix it up. I've been gaming for 35 years, consoles and PCs. Try different games. I went multiplayer for 6 years BF1942 and then WoW. Now lately I find myself enjoying the hell out of single player again since I haven't played them in so long. I finished Bioshock, Company of Heroes, Pyschonauts and currently working on Mass Effect and Kings Bounty Legends.

So change it up. Sticking to the same game genres will burn you out.

Look for and attend LAN parties. They are awesome, better than playing online IMHO. I've made quite a few PC gaming friends that way. Also make the effort to introduce PC gaming to others. People buy what they see and that's consoles. It's up to us PC gamers to spread the word since the PC gaming industry fails terribly at promoting it.

First, get you some TF2, especially if you like the teamwork aspect of BF2.

Funny, I'm 32 and lately I've been marvelling at how I continue to remain enthralled with gaming. Like most have said, you need more variety. I`m a hardcore FPS fan and have played and enjoyed all the games you mention. What I do is keep a couple different style games on hand, in order to cleanse the pallette when I get tired of "murder simulators".

My current pallette-cleansing games:

- Bionic Commando: Re-armed
- Peggle
- Defcon
- Portal
- Mass Effect
- GRID (have to admit I've lost interest in this one...)

You honestly get used to playing on the controller. If I had to choose I'd take the keyboard/mouse any day, but I wouldn't fret about having to play an FPS with a controller.

The problem is most games suck, or are mediocre at least. It's not a new thing, it's always been this way. It's just now you're older, more experience, and have less free time so you have less tolerance for mediocre games.

My advice is to take a step back from the newer, flashy games and try to focus on finding the quality games. Games that are highly rated (after they've been out a while) and have good word-of-mouth. Perhaps something in a genre you don't normally play. Or even fire up a classic you've already beaten.

I started to buy into the Spore hype before it was released. But thankfully the North America release was a couple days behind other parts of the world, and I got to see some of the 'meh' feedback and decided to pass.

Find a gaming community that you like and stick with that. I've found being able to have a reliable experience does wonder for longevity. (Hell, I still play CS:S on my community's server and have a blast every single time)
