the one im holding. the 2 in the back are 4pin molex. The psu has 3 bundles coming off the psu, with 3x 4pinmolex each, and 2 of them have this weird connection on it. wtf is it:confused:

any help will be greatly appreciated, as ups is dellivering all my items tomorrow, and im just doing some wire management tonight because im so anxious.

o and thermaltake fans are cheap and shitty(i already knew, but i bought this fan 2 yrs ago) and the wires slip out of the heatshrinked connectors way to ez...im hoping i havent fucked it up >.>

It's the plug for the floppy drive, baby! Cut it off if you don't use floppy drives anymore. That's usually what I do.

lol.. are you serious? Floppy power plug. You're making me feel old, and I'm only 22 :p

I just laughed so hard I fell off the stair and hit my head and now it's bleeding.

YOU OWE ME A COUPLE OF STICHES!!!!

grrrrrrrrrr.

jk.

It's a power connector for future proof purposes, to power the tacheon flux capacitor that future time distortion vortex motherboard uses.

hahah. i"m sorry, me bad.

It's a floppy drive power connector. YOu know, the small rectangular thin card like thingy that your ancestor used to use before thumbdrive cam along.

It also powers some 9000 series Radeons, and incidentally enough this X1600 that is randomly sitting on my desk.

Old Audigy cards also used the floppy connector to power the Firewire port.

lolol thanks guys xD

i dont think ill cut it off, just tuck it away somewhere.

and this is my first build btw :) parts from ups shoudl be here today, i cant wait :D

The x1600 sitting in front of me takes a 4 pin floppy for the extra power it
needs.

You're right. I have a Sapphire x1600Pro (agp) that uses a floppy connector to power it. Same as my old 9700Pro.

I have that jack on my audigy 1 platinum, i think the connector is called mini 4 pin connector or something mini.

this is very interesting, I didnt know the floppy power connector is good for other stuff.

something new everyday.

:)

That as has been said before is a floppy power connector but MANY other things use it also, so dont do as what the second poster said and just cut it off , many things use it and one of the examples that I can give you from my own pc is the XFi platinum drive bay sound box, that is powered by one of those also.

But never ever just cut the thing off

I'm gonna cut it off, slowly .... with a dull knife.

what u gonna do about it, huh?

j/k, i cant help it, sorry. :D

btw, how much amps does a floppy power connector produce?

Theoretically the connector doesn't produce any power.

It should be good for about the same as a standard molex connector though, probably a bit less due to less contact area, I would wager. Not that anything with a floppy connector would actually require serious power...
