I finally bought a pair of speakers (i have headphones) and i was wonder if there is a device thats cheap( <$40) that will allow me to switch between headphones and speakers without having to constantly unplug the other?

Thanks

ok so i need a switch.....are there any that support 5.1 speakers and a headset? can only seem to find them that have 1 audio in for the speakers when ill need two.

a simple solution is a y splitter that is if you don't mind hearing sound coming out of your headphones while listening to your speakers (if you have it that loud of course)

I use a reciever but a lot of 5.1 computer speakers have headphone out even though most are of poor quality. You could always try a splitter..

yeah i just realized it has a headphone out...i dont know wtf i was thinking haha. Sorry for wasting your time

Yes it has a headphone out but you're still going through all of the circuitry that the speaker manufacturer made, if we're talking about multimedia speakers here (ie. logitech, altec lansing). If you're just using a receiver, usually that's just fine but multimedia speaker headphone jacks deteriorate the sound quality a bit because they don't put a whole lot of time into making that part of the circuit (even though it's not very complex.. see below).

Using something like this: http://headwize.com/projects/showfile.php?file=cmoy7_prj.htm
would give you a cleaner setup. You can also buy things like this too (http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...udio+switch&kw=audio+switch&parentPage=search).
both of these are from this thread.

If the headphone jack sounds fine through your headphones though, just ignore me.
