What is the QUITEST Socket 478 fan?

if youre going for a near silent pc you wont be overclocking much. that being said your best bet would be to go for a thermalright xp-120 combined with a 120mm panaflo on a fanmate2. A alternative would be the zalman7700 but thats fairly heavy :)

I just replaced my Zalman 7000AlCu with a Arctic Cooling Freezer 4.
It's quieter than the Zalman at 7volts!!! And the Zalman is considered a "quiet" cooler to start with.

Not to mention, this thing was under $30 with tax and shipping from directron ( http://store.yahoo.com/directron/freezer4.html ). They've since raised their price, but it's still great.

Not to mention, I get about 10 degrees cooler than with the Zalman at 12volts, and that's celsius!

Needless to say, I am in love with this HSF.

What cpu you got? A nw or a pressy?

I use zalman 7700 and its still quiet. Very quiet. Pretty much I can't hear it. My video card is like a blower tho. lol The zalman is definitely heavy but works well for me :)

i m having a hard time finding a quiet solution for a socket 478 prescott!!1
get a XP-90 or XP-120 and a Nexus Real Quiet fan!!!1

the XP-90/120 is the best heatsink you can get
the Nexus 120mm Real Quiet fan is probably the quietest fan you can get

wether or not it will be enough for you depends on how much overclocking you want to do, airflow in the rest of your case, etc - but the XP-90/120 will still be your best bet because they are excellent at cooling and you can use any fan you want

Ender hit it on the head, that's a good combo. Alternatively, you might want a fan that can push a little more cfm at times and put it on a fan bus or something....

I have a P4 2.4C (Northwood) currently at just a little over 2.6GHz 1:1.

The CPU has NOT hit 40 at full load at 1.550 volts. I think 38 is the highest I've seen.

Again, very quiet and great temps. I <3 this HSF.
