I was hoping you psu gurus could help me out with this...
I currently have a Enermax whipser 430w PSU that I don't think is quite what it used to be. I've had it for about 4/5 years so I think its about time to replace it. I've been looking into the OCZ power supplies, more specifically:
Powerstream 520w
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817711002
Modstream 520w
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104155
(Please feel free to suggest other options, I am still looking)
I was looking into the Antec NeoHE psu until seeing the sticky thread here about that, even though my board isn't listed, I/m one of those poeple that doesn/t know what motherboard I might be running a month from now.
My system is:
DFI - lanparty NF3 ultra-d
MSI - 6800GT - AGP
AMD venice core 3000+ (@2400mhz 1.42V 266MHZ/9X)
2 - Corsair XMS (TCCD) 512mb
Sound blaster audigy 2 NX (usb2.0)
2 - Seagate SATA 400GB striped
1 - 120gb Western digital 8mb IDE
1 - 30gb Maxtor 30GB IDE
2 - optical drives
1 - floppy
Lian li pc60
rheobus bay, 5 80mm case fans (not including psu), and 3 cold cathode lights.
I am an overclocking enthusiast, the motherboard is not running in spec, I am running increased voltages across the board VDIMM, Vcpu, Chipset, etc...
I like the idea of the modstream being modular, I have a case with a big ol' window so that sure would look nice, but not nessesary. Looking at the two PSU's the only other difference I see in specifications is that the modstream 12v is rated 26A while the powerstream is rated at 33A. I would like to save the money if possible and buy the modstream (Im a poor college student), but I know better than to go cheap on the PSU, and I dont see SLI as a future upgrade for myself (but I am currently considering a 7800GS).
I look forward to seeing any insight you guys have to offer, and hope you can help me out picking out a new psu!
Thanks
Fonix
