What is the difference between these 2 drives?

hm, could be a typ, howver the differing awrranties say something. Definately not the same drive, maybe the same specs though.

I would think that ATA-6 is referring to which revision of the ATA standard the drive complies with. Not sure why they would put that on there and not the transfer speed, but, who knows.

You could try googling the model numbers maybe, or emailing Hitachi and asking them the difference.

the difference? about 15 bucks har har har

no, seriously.. one probably goes at ata66 and one at ata100

I followed the product links from those pages and it seems that the more expensive one has a few extra power saving features ? It has "performance idle, active idle,& low power idle" where as the cheaper one doesn't. Only differences I see.

08K0939 is the 7K60 and 08K0889 is the E7K60.

Hard to see many differences at first (the interface and physical characteristics are identical), but this note appears on Hitachi's web site:

"Due to the ABLE power management feature being disabled in the E7K60 products, power performance will not be optimal when used in a laptop environment."

the E7K60 seems to be targetted at blade servers in addition to laptops, which I guess would explain the differences in power features. And as you can see, the warranties are different. The 08K0939 (7K60) seems to be the best choice.
