Im getting an antec p182, and im going to overclock my e6420 to about 3ghz, i want to know whats the best cooler for it? height isnt an issue due to the sheer size of the antec case and noise isnt too much of an issue as its basically a bomb proof case so very little noise sneaks out, im very new to all of this so just wondering whats the best solution?

looking to spend about £50 max..might stretch but it depends!

thanks!

cool i read about this one, so this is definitely the best bang for buck type of cooler? what i dont get is the sheer size of these coolers, wouldnt it put a lot've strain on the mobo seeing as its so top heavy...and hanging sideways?

oh. and if you can help with this one, whats the best programme to read cpu temperatures and such forth? i have pc probe which came with the p5b-e board i have but it seems to not be all too accurate, diff temps at idle/load etc!

many thanks for the info

It tops many lists, and is often recommended. It isn't the quietest, but it basically gets the best temps. It's really big, so make sure it'll fit in your case.

getting the ultimate antec super mega tank case, so im pretty sure i could sit one on top of the other inside it! haha

i personally think the tuniq is on its way out as king. there are smaller and more efficient coolers out there. i personally love my scythe ninja and the thermalright 120 extreme is very good as well (remember to buy a nice fan for it though). google through some cpu fan comparison charts and look for yourself. the tuniq is still a decent choice if you are set on that.

hehe, tuniq is even on that and thermalright ultra 120 is at the top of heat dissipation. i forgot to mention the 9700 is also a good choice.

thanks! well I think im just going to buy one pre packaged with a fan, just dont have the patience to seek out a fan good enough, the 9 blade rotar on the tuniq appears to be excellent at low rpm's...so quietish..which is great to me, cos im not too fussed about noise, i have my 5.1's rumbling out nice house beats all the time anyway so it doesnt matter!

next thing i need to learn about is how to actually overclock my duo!! heard its very very easy

Heh. The best watercooling for $100!

Not gonna happen. :D

Actually, wait for my worklog. I'll show you how I made a water cooling setup for a 3.4GHz OC on an E6600 with a max orthos load of 42c for under 100 dollars. ;)

Yes they did. The extreme is as easy to install as the ultra.

The heatsink will be able to twist, but it will be secure to the middle point on top of the CPU. Don't try to overtighten and strip the screws because of it (like I did).
