What is the best free anti-spyware software?

I use a combination of Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware. But definitely download Spybot S&D because it has a knack for finding for tracking cookies and whatnot :) The Australian PC Authority Mag has found Webroot Spy Sweeper 5 to be the best anti-spyware program out there if its any consellation.

Spy-bot and ad-ware just don't seem to keep up with some of the new shit. I'd also throw the MS defender into the pot and use it instead. Everything I've read about the avg antispyware has been poor(antivirus good though). Really I would spend the 30 bucks on spyware doctor which I find to be the best or spysweeper which is also very good. Switched my clients from spysweeper to spyware doctor(now the company I work for is even a reseller) because it was better but spysweeper is suspose to be catching up now.

I use:

Firefox
SpywareBlaster (immunization)
Spybot S&D
Ad-Aware
Microsoft Defender

No problems. CCleaner to clean out cookies.

RootkitRevealer by Mark Russinovich
(Went to Microsoft recently)
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/RootkitRevealer.mspx
NOTE: If these Rootkits don't find anything it doesn't neceserally mean you don't have one.
Be preapared for a new OS installation procedure cause real rootkit's are almost impossible to fight since the wreck parts of your windows removing them. I experienced this once. There are however some tools to replace some important dll. files from windows in shutdown/startup windows. Mmm...have to look them up if necessary?

ProcessExplorer from Mark Russinovich. Best Proces watcher: (Good for Microsoft to get this windowsexpert in)

I run a simliar combination. Instead of Spysweeper, the free and effcient (also self-updating and self scanning, constantly running in background) Windows Defender is what I use. I also have AdAware and SpyBot installed, and run periodic manual scans.

I run Firefox with the NoScript extension, as well as the AdBlock extension with the Filterset.G auto-updater.

FlashBlock and McAfee SiteAdvisor are also good extensions.

HijackThis recently came out with a self-installer (creates Program Group and the like, shortcuts as well, instead of a single EXE). I run that every 10 days or so to ensure the troops are not infected.

I run scans with RegScrubXP every month or so as well.

My AV is NOD32, and my firewall is Sunbelt Kerio.

Great suggestions by Youri Carma. (no one should have to suffer through the use of a PC without Unlocker installed!)

There's a good list on here. Yeah I think all that I were gonna mention ad-aware, spybot s&d, spyware blaster, spyware doctor, webroot, ...oh ewido (I don't know if that was mentioned), CWShredder, hijackthis (not for just spyware so to speak but...can help).
