I have x800xl and the latest catalyst drivers do not make me happy. I have lost an average of 10fps in cod2 and my nba live barely runs, it is rediculous. Are the new omega drivers any good for x800xl? What I am wondering is what version of Catalyst/Omega would work the best with my video card.

I've asked this question at lot at forums and I've seen it get asked a lot about just about any video card. The best thing to do is try it yourself, but if you want a preview then search the forums (not just this one) and see how other people with your same video card (or similar card) and the games you want to run have experienced various drivers. If you're having trouble with the latest Catalyst drivers, then try the latest Omegas and see how it goes. Are you used to using the Omega drivers and that's the ones you usually end up with? If so, then give them a try.

I'm actually in the middle of figuring out which new drivers to install for my card and I'll probably leave them installed for the life of the card. I've done that already on my old system with old games installed. Good Luck!

I've never had good luck with the Omega drivers. Honestly I've never been able to tell a difference between those and the ATi reference drivers in games. Some of the IQ defaults were changed on older Omega's, but that's about it. In fact I've had some problems out of the Omegas too.

This is why I haven't messed with the Omega drivers in a year or so. They just aren't worth it in my opinion.

I have installed the latest Omega drivers last night. I honestly did not notice much difference between the two, but I think that I get better fps in cod2. I am still not getting what I used to but I get 2-6 more fps on average.

Anyone ever try any of the ZeroPoint or NGO drivers for 2006? Does the same difference between Omega, ZeroPoint and NGO still apply in 2006 as in 2005?

i use omega based off of cat 6.3 for my x800gto. i have tried zeropoint and ngo drivers seen no difference. i try out new drivers all the time and allways go back to 6.3's i dont think any of the new ones have improvments for the older x800 line.

i just hate ati control center

Im having problems with 3d with the newest ones with a X700 pro. Im not sure if its drivers or an outdated version of DX. But I crash out of a lot of games. Personaly for the older cards Ive always like 5.8.
