Howdy all,

I'm building some workstations for my office. I have been putting ATI 9200 video cards in recent computers that I have built for friends/family/clients. However, the large majority of the computers at my work are NVIDIA and I want to stay consistent.

So, what's the equivalent of the ATI 9200 (Not SE) in the NVIDIA world?

Thanks!

Hurin

Edit: Obviously, I know the 9200 sucks for games. But these computers aren't for games. :)

I would say something like the ti200 to Ti500 or somewhere along those lines...

Really? That old?

I was thinking more along the lines of the FX5200.

I can't even find the ti500 at newegg anymore.

Will the FX5200 give a nice desktop (non-gaming experience). I'm ordering a lot at a time so I don't wanna be stuck with a lot of video cards that everyone hates. :)

Nothing feature-wise really. The GF4 MX440-8x is performance cometitive, but only has DX7 hardware and the FX 5200 is also in the same performance ballpark, but has DX9 hardware. The FX 5200 really competes with the 9600SE.

Just going by price, either the MX440-8x or FX 5200. It's hard to make too many demands from a budget card.

If you're considering the 9200, get a 9100 instead if you can still find one. R200 > RV280

Thanks guys. I just found this head-to-head review of the 9200 vs 5200 here.

Since the 5200 is cheaper at newegg. . . I think I'm just going to go with that.

Thanks!

be sure you get the 128BIT (not mb of ram, but memory bus width) version instead of the 64BIT version.

Personally I'd say avoid both the FX5200 and Radeon 9200 like the plague and get either a GF4TI4200/4600 or a Radeon 8500/9100. The GF4 will be noticably faster than the FX5200 by a decent amount, the Radeon 8500 will be about 50 percent faster than the 9200.

Dumbest numbering schemes ever, both ATi and Nvidia.

Holy crap! Thanks man. I had indeed added the 64-bit version to my cart. For $20 more, I can get the 128-bit version. I doubt my users will notice, but it seems silly not to do it.

Thanks,

H
