what is my video card (9600 pro) missing to play this simplistic screen saver at a decent frame rate. ive tried the screen saver on everything from intel interated graphics to 9800 pro. and it wont work at a playable frame rate.

though a voodoo 5 5500 plays it fine.

drivers are correctly installed, could it be a patch on windows 2000? didnt work on xp either.

How old is it? If it ran on a Voodoo card fine, that would lead me to believe that it's written to use Glide acceleration, thus making all other non-Voodoo chips run it in software mode, thus really slow.

my card played it perfect when i first got my machine. then i updated drivers and it quit. ive since reinstalled windows and still kaput.

i even reinstalled windows another time just to fix it cause i though i broke my OS permanenlty cause no driver update would fix it.

on a P3-1GHz machine, did you set the thread priority higher? Running any intensive background processes? Check your OpenGL settings in CCC..... as I said, runs fine on a 9600np OC'd to 475core/250mem

This is from the readme file:

"This screen saver is written for Windows. It uses OpenGL and requires
OpenGL hardware acceleration for optimum performance. If you don't have
it, you'll see a pitifully slow framerate."

Not working on windows XP and only working well on a v5 makes it obvious that it is glide only. Quite obvious indeed.

Since this screen saver is shareware, I ask for $5 if you decide to keep
it. Payment information is available at http://www.reallyslick.com

It's only shareware, so there is no support available for this saver,
but feel free to send comments and suggestions to me (Terry) at
mogumbo@fcmail.com

INSTRUCTIONS: Just extract the .scr file from this .zip file using your
favorite zip program. Place the .scr file in your Windows\system
directory (Win95/98) or Winnt\system32 directory (WinNT/Win2K). Then open
your display properties window and you can activate this saver.

GG, quote from the help file

def. is locked at 30fps, since Demons9872s P4 is alot more machine than this puny P3 and I got what appeared to be a solid 30.....
