...and how much to use? I'm running a water cooler 4870x2
through a 30" 2650x1600 rez. My temp is 36C at game play
and 30C at idle. My GPU activity meter barely ever moves.

I wonder how much of these Catalyst Control settings
effects movies I watch with Power DVD on this screen?
This screen is awesome at gaming and viewing high
rez still images but I question the DVD playback.
I just seems to lack the pop. There is no contrast
setting on the 3007 Dell so I set the contrast higher
in the Catalyst Control. It helps a little.

Any good links on the in and outs of this 4870x2 with
the 30" Dell?

I think part of the problem is that you're stretching 848x480 all way to 2560x1600 (or the 16:9 equivelent of that). You might want to consider stepping up to high definition movies. Blu-ray drives are only like $100 now.
 
OK, I'll give you that. But why do the DVD's look better on lets say
1920x1080 40" Sony or Sammy?
