What is happening to Samsung hard drives:(

I did not even think these (F3s) were still being manufactured. Although I have seen in forum posts that the 2TB F4s with Seagate labels are still using Samsung firmware revisions.

Samsung used to make a quality unit until they started to use Seagate with the highest failure rate of the big 3.

Seagates suffer from their platters axels only being secured on one side. As such they are more suseptible to drop shock and vibration.

I won't touch a seagate.

I bought a Samsung USB portable backup drive and it was dead from the moment I opened it. I'm kicking myself in the pants for not reading who really made it.

Samsung no longer makes hard drives. Seagate now owns them, and has been repackaging their drives using the Samsung label and model numbers.
